The UCanUse User Attributes for DNN 3.3/4.3 release candidate is available today!

Our new release candidate still supports defining your own custom attributes (there are several controls not available in the DNN Profile Properties definitions, you also get greater control over your controls), but now it also supports using Common Properties (just about any property in DNN), as well as using the DNN Profile Properites.  You can mix and match as you see fit.  We have even written a User Attributes to DNN Profile export utility if you want to store your data in the DNN Profile table and you already have an existing User Attributes installation in production.

Also new to this release candidate is 4 types of field validation (Type, Range, Required and RegEx); you can layer as many validators as you need on each field.  This wll be extended to Actions in User Attributes 3.0 shortly.

Another new feature is the abilty to not save the data in a specific module, in case you want to use the module simply for its actions-based-on-user-input ability.  Using IMC you could even save the data your own way using a utility you write.  User Attributes is completely IMC-enabled.  One customer used it to write a send-Email utiltiy to send a subscription notice to a specific email address based on how a user entered data in a field.  Anything is really possible using IMC; you can intercept the flow before the user is registered (or their data is updated) or you can wait until User Attributes is finished and then trigger your own event.

UCanUse User Attributes has always been a solid product and we are committed to making it even more powerful in the next couple of months.  We hope you will give it a try.  If you are not familiar with all the features we haven't mentioned, please visit www.UCanUse.com and check the User Attributes page under DNN Modules. You'll be pleasantly surprised.

This compatibility release will be followed shortly with a new UCanUse User Attributes 3.0 that will let you design your forms completely as you see fit.  There are several other surprises in store as well.

We are calling this a release candidate because with such sweeping changes, we want users to get their hands on it to make sure we've covered all the bases.  Our preliminary beta testing shows a solid product.

If you want it you can purchase it direct from us; just email us at support@UCanUse.com and we'll send you details; or if you purchase from Snowcovered send us an email with a copy of your purchase information and we'll make sure you get the release candidate.  Be sure to specify the version of DNN you want to run it on.

To our existing faithful customers, thank you for your support and your patience through this time.  There have been major breaking changes in both DNN 3 and DNN 4; we hope it stabalizes now so we can spend more time on features than comatability conversions!

This is great news, I can't wait to give it a try.

1 Question - I will need to use your module for a conference registration site that needs to be running by 9/1. Do you see the new user attributes ready by that time?

It's already on Snowcovered!  We will be sending a patch out to existing qualifying users tomorrow.  It's working solidly in our beta tests; any remaining issues will be cleared up immediately upon discovering them.  Thanks for your interest.
