thanks for all the replies. i guess i'm not the only one experiencing this problem with the dnn menu.

gvborre,
(1) yes, i'm using solpartmenu.
(2) i have dnn 4.3.4 installed.
(3) no, i don't. i'm using the css class .MainMenu_SubMenuItemSel since i want different mouseover behavior for the root menu & the submenus. i tried using .MainMenu_SubMenuItemSel {} & .MainMenu_SubMenuItemSel td {}, in both cases the borders disappear.
(4) i'm using firefox 1.5 & ie6. both browsers give me the same behavior. i haven't tried looking at it using ie7, don't have one yet.

any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks,
jared

Dear jpcastillo and RegGFX

First
RegGFX asks a question of the solpartmenu. Read first this thread. A thread that nobody answers...

Second
jpcastillo ask a question of the version 4.3.x and higher. In this version the knew DNNMenu can be used. But normally you use the solpartmenu. Also This thread is therefore very usefull.
See this blog from Jon Henning. And let me know if you understand it... and if I can help I don't know...

Thank you for the replies....

I am now on Day 4 or reading previous posts and trying different tests etc...

Unfortunatally i see no clear cut answer to resolving this issue in my situation. Has anyone else been able to resolve this? Perhaps there is something i've over looked.

It looks like there is no work around for stopping the border disapperance on mouseover problem.
I've tried everything. Unfortunatally i'm having to try to resolve this in DNN 2.1.2 because its an pre-existing site that is very extensive...where i don't have a lot of time to rebuild into the latest versions of DNN 4.X or 3.x
Is this issue resolved in versions DNN 3.x or 4.x ?

In my case i'm trying to resolve this for DNN 2.1.2
If there is some sample code that i can try again where it definatally works, that would be great. Or a skin somewhere i can download or see a sample of where this is issue has been resolved.

If Not, I'll just have to tell my people that there does not appear to be a clear work-a-round. For this version of DNN that is being used.

Oh well... 10 points for trying.

You seem to have come across probably the most confusing piece of baggage that is included in the solpart menu.  Meaning its use of hardcoded markup.  See my response to this thread.

I am not sure I fully understand what you are trying to accomplish, but have you tried using the selectedbordercolor attribute in your skin.xml file (or an attribute in the ascx)?

This is the reason I moved towards a new menu (DNNMenu).  You can read a little about it here and why it was created.

Thanks for the reply Jon...

Basically all i'm trying to do is to allow for a simple border outline around the submenus.
the problem is when you mouseover the bordered submenu, the bordor that was defined on the submenu area disappears. A good example of what i am trying to emulate can be seen at the website shown by clicking here.

Notice how this menu has a nice border surround on the submenus without dissapearing after mouseover
This is all i've been challenged with. And it is this what i am trying to accomplish.

So from what i read from the links provided, this is now fixed?

Do i just need to download Solpart Menu Module for DNN2 PA - v1.4.0.3
Note DNN2.1.2 is what i'm trying to update this on because the website is pre-existing

Based on the link i provided to you above, Is the example of what i'm trying to accomplish do-able? with Solpart Menu Module for DNN2 PA - v1.4.0.3

I await your wise answer.[EMO]glasses.gif[/EMO]
