Hello Everyone,

I'm looking to host DNN on a UK host. Does anyone have anyone have any recommendations?

It has to be a UK based host as we have a .org.uk domain which we use for email and to change all the addresses will be a complete nightmare.

Cheers

Jason

I host .co.uk domains with a hosting provider from the US. As far as I am aware there is no requirement to be physically in the UK to host your domain.

I can recommend websecurestores.com as very good hosting provider .

Hi Tim,

Thanks for the advice. You'll have to excuse my ignorance here.

If I have a domain registered say with UKReg and I can't transfer the domain in to my stateside host, how do I get my my domain connected to my host in the states. Is it just a matter of pointing the domain my host in the states?

TIA

Jason

Hi Jason,

Yes, your host should provide you with the NameServer records which you use in your current Domain Registrar's admin for each domain. You don't actually transfer the domain.

If you want no nonsense hosting - try PowerDNN (in the US) - check this out for an interesting experiment. I am based in London but most Smart-Thinker customers are US.

You don't need to transfer the registration but you do have to change the nameserver settings for the domain to point to the new host.

A good hosting provider will help with this.
