We have setup a DNN 4.0.3 site on a QA server to create all the pages, content, etc. Then, after we finished that, I packaged the entire contents into an MSI to have it installed on a production web server. The MSI set the proper permissions per the installation guide, copied all the files for the website, created a new database on the production SQL Server (2005), installed the DB schema, and inserted the data from the QA database. Everything is an exact match - files, schema, and data.

However, in the production environment after we log in using the "host" account, the skin does not change the "Login" link to the username and a logout link. Additionally, none of the control for editting are enabled. We can not do a single thing. I have checked the EventLog table and confirmed that there is a LOGIN_SUPERUSER entry, and no other errors but for some reason DNN is just not functioning correctly.

Thanks,

Aaron Prenot

What happens to your admin and registered user accounts? Are they failing too? Have you tried creating a new superuser (host) username and log on with that?

All accounts would allow you to login (i.e. - no "failed login" error message displayed), but they template still acted like their wasn't anyone logged in. The login link was still active instead of displaying the user name and logout, and users with admin capabilities didn't get the control panel or the respective dropdown menus.

I did reset the "host" user's password via a SQL script, but I did not see a way to create a new host account.

I have since wiped the installation and just started all over again from scratch in the production environment. I couldn't wait any longer to get the issue fixed.
