I have a blog that I have rigged to allow all registered users to post to, by creating an XMOD form that runs the blog's Add entry stored procedure. But I discovered a major problem today. I currently have my blog page set to display only the most recent 10 entries. But, if there are more than 10 entries on a particular day, there is no way, that I know of, to get to those entries! And yes, I could bump up the blog to display more than 10 entries, but besides the fact that too many entries on the page would be very hard to read, I still have the possibility of having more entries for a day than I am showing on the page.

Is there something I am missing? Or is there a work-around for this, such as a way to put a 'More' link on the bottom of the page that would access earlier entries?

I would love to hear something from Hans-Peter or Cathal about 1) whether or not you agree this is a flaw in the blog module, and 2) given the way the module is currently written, how easy you think it would be to modify the code to put a link at the bottom of the page that would page through previous entries. I haven't written much ASP.net code, and I haven't cracked the blog source open, and I would just love some hints as to how I could make this change.  Also, would like to know if it is even something I should bother looking into now, given that the new release is around the bend, which may have enough changes in the code to make any work I put into this now for naught.

Thanks!

Thanks, cathal. Could you give me any guidance as to how hard you think this will be to do, and if the new release of the Blog module will have substantial changes in this area, making any changes made to the current Blog obsolete? I am debating whether or not I should do it myself, rather than wait.

I agree this is a major flaw in the module. I'm glas to see it was put on the list for an enhancement. The way I got around this and it may not work for you in this use case is I created child blogs on different topics and then I post to the topics associated with the post I'm posting too. I'm nto sure if you could hook up XMOD to apss to a specific child blog, but this tactic may help you a little with this problem as its unlikely a single user would post more than 10 times in a single day.
