I have been reading posts and experiencing all kinds of weird behavior with regards to notifications in DNN 3.3.4; and all I can say is their are deifinite problems here..... I have some modules that seem to send emails ok.... others are throwing errors.... Something is definitely wrong... Can some serious attention please be given to this by DNN developers..... I have no confidence with the notifications within the system at this point.

The more I investigate, the more serious this issue is appearing..... It is messing up notifications in various modules....

I have noticed one thing that may give the developers a place to start... In the login module... If you use the 'forgot password' feature... If I put in 'Admin' it sends the admin password email just fine.... If I put in 'Host' it send the host password email just fine.  BUT, if I put in any user account other than admin or host... the email is never received....?

Ok... another interesting observation... but I am not a developer so help me out....

If I change a users account that is not sending notification so that the email account is going to an email address at my domain.... it works fine.... but if it has any domain that is not my own, it fails.... which will be all outside users.....

What you are describing is that your SMTP server is not allowing relay.

What this means is that you will have to have DNN authenticate to the SMTP server before it will send your mail.

You can do this using Host Settings > SMTP Settings
