I have created a simple .net interface to a database - which enables me to edit/insert and update date.

I want to incorporate this work into a dotnetnuke website. I want dotnetnuke to handle user authentication and permissions and possibly link this up to a shopping cart.

Since I am not only new to DNN but also to .net I am not sure which way to jump from here.

What is the best way yo get this integrated into dotnetnuke? Can I use Iframes or should I be focussing on developing this into a DNN module?

Also - will I need VS 2005 to do this?

Thanks

Sounds like you need to build yourself a module.  You can do all of this with the following:

Visual Web Developer, SQL 2k5 Express, DNN 4.3.4 and The Starter Kit.Zip

You can get all of this from free from microsoft.com and basically you will Install the DNN 4.3.4 (Refer to the Install Folder in the "Install It" Forum.)  Once that is done you will open your DNN with VWD 2k5.  The Solutions Explorer will show all the files and folders in your DNN virtual directory.  Locate the Starter Kit.Zip and click on the VS Content File and this will load the module template and skin template.  Right Click the virtual directory and select "Add new item" and you will notice a new mod template (c#/VB) and a skin template (vb).  The module template will provide at least 70% of the code for your module.

This is the appropriate path if you a new to .NET and DNN.
