Hi,

We are building a solution that requires an external LDAP provider (like Novell eDirectory) instead of Microsoft AD. We desperately want to use DNN, but the functionality of AD is restrictive. Has anyone developed a module or additions to core that will allow me to authenticate against another LDAP provider.

I am also looking at the ability to change information on the LDAP store and retrieve schema data so that I can not only authenticate the user, but ensure that users have the correct roles associated with them once authenticated. If this is not available, is their anyone out the with expertese to write this for me?

Thanks

I did this a few years back.

A few years back Novell had some .Net Assemblies that let you easily authenticate against NDS.  I used these heavily.

I have developed one.  Let me know if you'd like to try it out.  It checks group membership in LDAP and compares to security roles in DNN so that you can manage that via LDAP.  It still creates local DNN user/role records so changes in LDAP are not dynamically synced but deleting user in DNN causes them to be recreated on next login.

Toby,

I am desperate to try this out.  Can you contact me at wayne.friedman@usencode.com. What LDAPs have you tested against?

Toby,

Desperate describes my situation so this is definitely great news!  Authentication against eDirectory is really the only thing holding back the roll out.

I definitely would like to try your solution.  My email address is in my profile.

Thanks!

Scott
