I just upgraded my installation to 3.4 from 3.1.  I have a number of links to files that users can download.  After the upgrade, the users get the following error when trying to download a file:

You Do Not Have Permission To View The Requested File

If I am logged in as administrator, I can download and view the files correctly.

I am running on an NTFS disk within an AD environment. I have two questions.

1.  When I log in, is the AD user the website is running under changing?  If so - to what?  and how do I configure what AD User a role in DNN uses?

2.  How do I fix this problem so unauthenticated users can download files I have uploaded?

Hi,

>>2.  How do I fix this problem so unauthenticated users can download files I have uploaded?

1. Go to Admin/File manager.
2. In folder tree, select folder where your downloadable files are located.
3. Under folder/file table, there are Security Settings. Select P
ermission chechbox View Folder for All users.
4. Click on Update link at the botom of the page.

Best regards,

Nenad

basically what happened is all the link modules, document modules, etc no longer link directly to your items, even if you tell it not to track link clicks.  As such, it actually CHECKS folder permissions before allowing the person to download.

We had this same issue - and it took me a bit to realize what the heck was going on... because before, I didn't have to bother with FOLDER permissions except for admins and editors, to allow them to select/upload files.

Something else - if you're using the document module, documents that people don't have access to magically disappear...  That one freaked me out at first... same issue - just set the perms...

Take care,

Chavous
