I am having the same problem after restoring a portal after crash.

Nobody seems to have the answer

There's a variety of possible causes for these types of problems.

In some cases, the problem can be resolved by setting your own unique application pool in IIS for DNN and making sure you have something other than localhost in the portal aliases.

same problem here, and i already tried the portal aliases tactic. I have been at it for 3 hours now, and I can't seem to figure it out. Anyone else got any ideas?

My config
Windows server 2003 standard, sqlexpress, DNN 4.3.5. Followed the readme file and it works perfect locally but externally not a thing, just page cannot be displayed for DNN.   I can surf to an .htm fine externally (same directory 500.htm) but no aspx, so it is resolving.

Anyone else got any ideas?
