I can't install any .net 2.0 products on my workstation. MS VStudio cripples AutoCAD LT.

So I am stuck doing the browser install. That's why I am aksing about this method
of installation. No matter where I point the DataDirectory to (or change uid & pwd in case
that is the problem) I get the same errors.

I was just hoping someone else was in the same boat.

Seems like a neat product, but have no way to check it out.

It sure is a nice program, but yes you do need .Net 2.0.  This is a must for DNN 4.3.4

If you have .Net Framework 1.1 you might be able to use version 3.3.4.  I believe this is the release which is compatible with .Net 1.1.

Otherwise you might be able to run it in a virtual machine of VMware and install the .Net framework 2.0 in that machine.

The choice is yours.

I don't have to have Net 2.0 on my workstation to develop for it, just on the server to run it (4.3.4), right?

I am not installing anything else on my server. Server has 2.0 running.

Can this product be installed as the guide shows through a browser? Without Studio installed?

I think I may need to start this topic over, it has strayed far off base.

You said you can't move the database file because something was holding it.  Did you try browsing the task manager and closing anything that says SQL?  You may want to try to close all those before you try to move it.

One more thing you can try is to copy the database file and paste the copy in the App_Data folder.  I'm pretty sure DotNetNuke only need you to create the database file.  It fills in everything.

Just some ideas.
