Hello all, I am trying to use DotNetNuke instead of Sharepoint for an external-facing website portal. So far I'm having some basic issues getting it to run.
Here is what has transpired so far.
1. Installed MS Visual Web Developer Edtn
2. Downloaded and installed DotNetNuke_4.3.4_StarterKit.vsi
3. Created SQL 2005 Express database with a SQL user ID with DBO access to that DB
4. Tested SQL access
5. Created new website using DotNetNukeApplicationFramework template with default settings
6. Edited web.config to comment out connection to mdf file and add connection to real SQL database
7. Edited web.config to choose SmallBusiness.install.config as the install template
8. Ctrl+F5 yields a successful build which then redirects to Internet Explorer to finish the install process
9. Install finishes but says "failed to create portal"
10. Clicking on the link to go to the portal results in the following error displayed in Internet Explorer.

Any suggestions on how to correct this problem are greatly appreciated.

Dude... I have this exact same error.  I can't find anything in the forums to help out...

I have the exact same problem, even though the installation method is a little different.

Might it be a bug in the installation routine?

I read *somewhere* that you can create a file to manually install a portal -- I think by creating an XML file with the values, putting that file somewhere and then running some routine to "see" it.

Anyone know how to do that?

There was an issue which was corrected with 4.3.5.  I suggest you try again with 4.3.5.
