Just installed DNN434 intranet website and have configured it to use Active Directory to authenticate users which is great except I quite like having access to Admin and Host facilities which I have now lost!!! (Login to host/admin don't seem to work anymore which I guess makes sense if validation is now being done by AD).

Q1. Do I have to redo the installation or do I need to setup 'Administrator'/Host user in Active Directory or a similar group with my user account in it?

FORUMS
Also I notice that while I'm recognised as a user automatically now, I am not able to start a new thread in the forum modules even though I'm recognised by dnn via my AD user account. Not sure if this a AD issue or a Forum one...

Q2
Does anyone know what I need to do to allow users registered via AD to post items to a forum?

Found the answer to Q2

http://dotnetnuke.com/LinkClick.aspx?fileticket=swveB6PP9gQ%3d&tabid=823&mid=2191 in this pdf.

whichs says I have to use the module permissions to allow registered users to 'edit' the module which of course is the forum. Makes sense I guess but I think was thinking that this was an AD specific issue.

I wonder if there is a similar PDF for Active directory?

While I'm waiting for any other posts on using admin/superusers in DotNetNuke with Active Directory I thought I'd post an update on what I've done (as opposed to what I'd like to do).

Before switching over to Active directory authentication, I added my domain\user as a superuser so I can still admin the site afterwards. I still can't use Host and Admin accounts but at least I can do that with my new superuser account.

Am investigating how roles/role groups and active directory groups can solve my problems...

*bump*

similar thing here... on my intranet dnn i can logout of my auto-login AD account and then login as HOST, however it's unreliable as to how long i can stay logged in like that, sometimes 2 clicks, sometimes 20.  it's really painful when you make some changes and then it boots you back to a page saying you don't have permission to modify that because it's re-logged you back in as your AD user.

i've done some searching, but can't find any specific mention of this.  i guess if i can stay logged in as host long enough i might be able to make me a superuser.....
