HI All,

When i click on the login link. Login module comes on the content pane but the other content part on the other panes like left pane , right pane , top pane, footer pane it just goes off. We added the content from adding the text/html module to all the pane ( left pane , right pane , top pane, footer pane ). Is there any solution to this so that when i click on the login the content on the other pane should remain and at the same time login module should get added at the content pane. Is this problem with skin creation.

Please let me know if any one know the solution.

Regards,
Ashok Naidu

The way I suggest you do this is to create a specific login page. You can selecte the *hidden* option when making the page so it's not displayed anywhere. Then set your content in the page.

Here's an example of what how I've done what I think you are trying to achieve.

http://www.schoolofgann.com/  this is the home page for the site. But I want to manage how the login page looks, so, if you click the Login button it automatically goes to this page - http://www.schoolofgann.com/site+login.aspx.

To do this, I create the page first AND PUT THE LOGIN MODULE IN THERE FIRST

Then, go to the admin/ SiteSettings page, and scroll down to advanced, and you can choose the LOGIN page. If you set that login page in there, DotNetNuke automatically tells the Login link which is in the skin to go to the Login Page you have created.

You can also set this for the registration page.

The same thing happens on my XD site - http://www.xd.com.au but in a different way.  I've set the Login Page to be the home page.  BUT I have set the Login Module to be visible ONLY to unauthenticated people - that basically means - anyone who is not logged in.  Once you log in, (except as administrator of course) it goes away.

So you can see here - there are multiple ways to use the login function and you can understand now the skinning and design works together with the actual functionality of DotNetNuke.

I hope this helps you.

The core DNN login page redirect the user to the referning page.  When using the custom method, it seems to just stay on the custom login page on my site.  Is there a way to fix that?

Hi Nina,

Thanks for your reply. I have registered my self to http://www.schoolofgann.com/ . Then i clicked on the workshop page. It displayed me workshop content / information. Then i clicked on the login and put the user name and password. It took me to the home page. It is not redirecting to the previous page. I was in workshop page before login so my requirement is after login it should take me to the work shop page.

Right now when i click on the the login in our site it displays us the login module without rest of the content on the other panes but after login it goes to the previous. I checked the Url carefully it adds /tabid/ctl/login/default.aspx on the same url i.e on the same page. Please check http://www.catalook.net url. In this site it goes to the previous page after login. Here also when we click on the login some of the content goes off but top links remains same and adds the login module.

So you have suggestion / comments about the design / skin of http://www.catalook.net .

Waiting for your reply.

Thanks once again.

Ok I had a look at what I'd set on the schoolofgann website -

Splash Page - None Set
Home Page - Home Page
Login Page - Login Page
User Page - My account

when you log in  you are automatically taken to the home page - I thought that might have been a setting, but I removed that from the site settings/advanced section but it still took me to home page. So it leads me to think that if you are using the Login function - it takes you directly to home page when you are logged in.

The difference between the Catalook login and the schoolofgann log in is that no page has been set. It's using the default login which takes you back to the page you were on, well, not really takes you back but uses an admin layout of that skin/page and keeps you in the same area of the site.

As far as comments on the skin - it's ok - I know it's been copied alot and made for resale with the Amazon type of look, but the design of the skin will not influence the behaviour of the the module.
