I am new to DotNetNuke and although I am an experienced .Net developer I want to set this product up without any development.

I have NotNetNuke 4.3.5 installed on my Web Server. . I am using SQL Express as the DB Engine. Can anyone tell me how to get past the following:

  1. I can get to the portal to run on my web server but I cannot get to the portal from any other machines. Because my internet provider blocks port 80 I have to install my web sites on other ports and use an Port router to access my web sites from outside. All my other web sites work. I have changed the port on the NotNetNuke portal to one of the working site ports (I did change the other site to another port for the test) and I still cannot make it visible. Is there a web.config setting I Have to set? I keep getting the page not available message.
  2. All the images have URL paths that start with: "/portal/....." or "/Image...." and none of them show up on the portal site. This is because the actual root of the port appears to be one folder below where the virtual folder root. How do I configure the web site so that the web site root is the same level as the virtual folder the application is installed in?

Thanks

check out the portal alias table.

Also, Are you using a IP address as your domain?

I am in deed using an IP address interally to get to it. And a port. The actual internal URL for the site is:

http://192.168.1.4:8083/

I will look at the portal alias table when I get home tomorrow. I assume that's a table in the database. What am I looking for?

And thanks for responding.

Are you trying to access this site from the Internet? is this IP a intranet IP(wont work) or an external IP?
Other option is a FQDN (Fully Qualified Domain Name).

Another thing to check is what kind of server are you using?

Appreciate your continued help.

I will (actually my wife) be developing the site from both our internal and external network. So the site will be visible from both the inside and outside. We currently access out internal sites by IP address. They are generally setup as an ip address with a port number because our cable provider blocks port 80 posts.

I am running on a Windows 2003 Server with all the service packs and updates. .Net 2.0 Framework is on the box.
