In a situation where the cursor is currently in the TextEditor.ascx control. If you use a mouse to click out of the control into a Text box, the TextEditor.ascx expands to a full width of all the tool bars laid end to end. If you click back into the TextEditor.ascx control, the page shrinks again.

If you click out of the TextEditor.ascx control to a drop down list or other control the problem does not repeat. It only seems to occur when you click into an asp:textbox control

Anyone have any idea why this is occurring. It was occurring in a module I was writing and I was testing it out and it also occurs in the EditAnnouncements.ascx page. So I'm assuming it's inherent in the TextEditor.ascx control.

To see the error I'm talking about.

  • Place the announcement module on a page.
  • Change to the EditAnnouncement page.
  • Click the mouse to put the cursor into the TextEditor.ascx control (teDescription)
  • Now click the mouse into an asp:text box control (the txtTitle control does nicely)

The page expands to some huge width????

  • Now click the mouse back into the TextEditor.ascx control (teDescription)

The page contracts again to the initial width.

You can toggle this back and forth. I don't know what is causing this. Anyone see this? Anyone know of a fix?

Some Additional Information that I've discovered.

The problem does not appear to be occurring in a places like this forum. You can go up and click in the Subject box above and click back down here in the TextEditor.ascx and the problem does not show up.

The problem appears to occurs in both DNN 3.3.4 and DNN 4.3.4

The problem DOES NOT occur in version DNN 3.1.1.

HELP!!!! If it didn't occur in 3.1.1 and does in 3.3.4 is there a way I can determine what has change?

I haven't been able to get a response from anyone and the issue doesn't seem to have been seen by anyone either. I am trying to determine if ANYONE else gets the same characteristics that I'm seeing with the TextEditor.ascx or if it's just me and some setting some where on my computers that is causing the problem. (It's happening on both my desktop and laptop)

Anyone else seeing the same characteristics of the TextEditor.ascx box expanding with they click into an asp:textbox?

I'm using IE6

For development in DNN 3.3.4 I'm using VB2003

For development in DNN 4.3.4 I'm using VWD

Both are hitting a SQL Express 2005 DB

I get the same behavior in both my laptop (Windows XP Media Edition) and desktop (Windows XP Professional)

IIS6 for both.
