All DNN artifacts are stored in the database except files which are defaulted to the "portal root" ( files can be stored in the database optionally ).  Commercial modules may work differently as things are always up to the authors as to how they work.  It is quite possible for a DNN site to contain nothing in the file structure other than the application files themselves ( DNN, language files, skin files, etc ) with ALL data in the database.

Cheers,
Scott

Scott,

Thanks for your contibution to DNN.  I have read both Wrox books that your were a part of and they gave me much of the understanding of how DNN operates.  I do lack expereice working with the product and am trying my best to apply what I have learned. I will try and help others with their questions, but right now my knowledege is very basic. So if the questions are simple I can answer them.

There are two issues that are a stumbling block for me at the moment that I would appreciate help on if possible.

1. Image Spacing

2. Vertical Menu Behavior

The links above point to my posts in the forums.  Is there a better place to post such simple questions?

Thanks for any and all help.

Actually, I was looking for the .aspx pages.  As stated in the other responses they are stored in the database.  Thanks for your reply.

Thank your reply.  That is what I suspected.  Is it possible to transfer content from one portal to another?  For example, if I had a staging website to develop and test changes that isn't accessible to the general public and a production site to apply changes from the staging website after the changes are complete?

No worries, Jean-Marie.  Thank you for participating and answering questions... we need more like you who believe in the golden rule *grin*.  I'll check your other posts and see if I am able to answer... as you can imagine, the DotNetNuke application is large and knowing it stem-to-stern is a tall order.  But hang in there and provide as much detail as possible on your questions.

Welcome!
