Can you folks quickly explain how you implemented the blog search function to limit the search domain and to display blog only search results?

I can figure it out on my own eventually, but I thought I could save some time by asking the experts.

Thanks!

Take a look at ViewBlog.ascx.vb, you'll see the blog module custom search controller methods (SearchByPhraseByPortal , SearchByPhraseByBlog, SearchByKeywordByPortal and SearchByKeywordByBlog) in action.

Thanks Cathal. So the Blog searches in real time with its' own datalist control, not using ISearchable, the scheduled search mechanism, or the portal search results page.

I was thinking of adding a similar product specific search to the Store Module, but I was thinking of adding support for ISearchable so that the portal search would return product results as well.

Would you recommend using both methods (real time and ISearchable), or are there other reasons why you designed your blog specific search results?

actually it does both - the Isearchable interface is implemented, so the results are searchable via the portal search mechanism, and theres a custom blog search mechanism as i've described before. It's Hans-Peter's design, but it's a sensible one, and an approach a number of modules have taken. For a store module, a dedicated search function would be sensible as it would allow you an area to return results, correctly categorise them and perhaps add upsells and cross-sells.
