Folks,
Maybe you would consider starting a Newbies forum? I'm just feeling a bit awkward asking stoopid questions on this forum. I would ask anyone who read this question to please either bear in mind that I've only been looking at DNN for a coupla days and am trying to get an idea of what its all about.. or.. don't rely to this post at all...

I've just installed dnn4 and have been playing around with adding modules to pages etc...
But what i was hoping to see doesn't seem to be there.. can anyone please tell me what module is being used on http://www.matt.org/Articles/tabid/93/Default.aspx to list articles like taht?
I was hoping for a way for users to add articles, show a short summary on the front page of each article and then a "read more" link which leads to the full article... and maybe have it so that only registered users can see the full article...
The News module isn't what I thought it was.. and neither are any of the others...

While I'm at it, do you have to pay for all third party modules for dotnetnuke? I'm kinda disappointed that there seem to be so few free ones.. with other portal/cms systems (like postnuke or joomla) there's a lot more free skins and modules... or am I looking in the wrong place?

Thanks
Vida

don't worry about it, we all had to start somewhere.

I don't recognise that particular articles module, it may be a custom module. I keep a list of various free dnn modules at my site http://www.cathal.co.uk/ , perhaps one of them would suit. Theres also a list of modules here @ http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/Modules/NonCoreModulesVersion34/tabid/794/Default.aspx ,though it's a mix of free and commerical modules.

Thanks Cathal,

I notice those modules on your site see to be DNN2 and 3... don't suppose they would work with DNN4 then? (I have the latest version of DNN installed)

Thanks

Vida

almost all dnn 3.x modules work under dnn 4.x as they are binary compatible (i.e. the dll's work, but you cannot recompile the asp.net 1.1. to asp.net 2.0 without converting it first e.g. via the dotnetnuke module upgrade wizard @ http://www.dotnetnuke.com/tabid/125/default.aspx). I'll shortly be adding a dnn 4.x page that lists modules that were developed under asp.net 2.0, so only work with dnn 4.x

The Repository module has an articles template.  It is skinnable.
