So,
i installed the dnn 4.4.0 after the rules by peterfnet.
the installation summary is exactly the same as peterfnet's.
after changing the databaseentry from 'www.site.com/dnn' to 'www.site.com' and moved all the folders, that where in my subdirectory '/dnn' i type 'www.site.com' into my browser and get the errormessage (posted before).
checked three times on clean/empty databases.
my last try was to move all the folders back to '/dnn' and changed the databaseentry back from 'www.site.com' to 'www.site.com/dnn'.
it seemed to work but after some clicks i get the typical security error when you install a dnn in a sub on an 1and1 hoster.

'Oh please, please help me!' *singing*

Bann,

Make sure the site.config, features.config, and compression.config is in the root directory also. Try changing it back to the root, make sure all the files are there, then modify your web.config file so your application will restart.  I'm guessing now but worth a shot.  The error you are getting is so darn ambigious it's hard to tell.

Hi,

thx to frank, my dotnetnuke installation is now running. I don't know why but when i copy all the three files from the config-folder to the root.
  • compression.config
  • Features.config
  • SiteUrls.config
Then i modified the web.config with one spacechar so that the web.config is changed, saved, uploaded and the application restarts.

Do we add this information to the "Installation Guide for 1and1"? Or are they to special for my installation.

Greetings and thanks

Bann
