Now if found the error.

I used the wrong Global.asax.vb. In this file I chaged the ApplicationPath to "dnn", as you suggested in the thread before.

Sorry and thank you verry much Frank.

Gerald,

Make sure you don't have a /dnn subfolder any more.  All folders should be at the root of your webspace.  Also, go through each folder and make sure that the iuser_xxxxxxxx account and the network service account have both write/read permissions on all of those folders at the root except the default 1and1 folders like _db_import, logs, etc...

Also, I don't have a hacked up version of the global.asax.vb file anymore.  Installing everything at the root removes the need for all of this.  Once I installed at the root (following my directions at the end of this thread), I no longer needed any of that hacked up code I once had.

Someone had a problem because the siteurls.config file was still in a subfolder and not in the root.  so they had to manually copy the siteurls.config file from the directory it was in (/Config) to the root (/)

Good Luck...subportals are out of my area of expertise.  Maybe someone else can help with that???

Now I have a Solution to create subportals in the root dir.

I change the Cod in "admin\Portal\Signup.ascx.vb":
In the pocedure cmdUpdate_Click replace the Line
"If System.IO.Directory.Exists(strChildPath) Then" with
"If System.IO.Directory.Exists(strChildPath + "/Default.aspx") Then"

So you can manualy create a directory with the name of the subportal and set the write permissions.
then creta a subportal in dnn - voilà.

i hope this was the las surprise.

Gerald
