I am in need of a module that will help me build an application. I need to be able to build forms to enter data into the database. Then build templates to display that information to users. I have purchased XMOD and it is pretty close to what I am looking for, but it is built to enter and dispay data in a single table, not multiple tables. I want to build something that is more of a relational-database structure. After getting the data into the forms I need to be able to display it in tables that have parent child type relationships.

I hope this gives enough info to help people point me in the right direction.

Thanks.

XMod is as close as you can get without building it yourself as far as I know.  There are some others, but they all do relatively the same thing.

What you are describing sounds kind of MS Access though.  It has some nice templates that you can even convert to a web project.

It sounds like you are familiar with Databases, so another option might be something like Iron Speed.

Thanks. thats what I was afraid of. Yeah I work with access all the time and i am looking for a mix between it and XMOD.

I will take a look at iron speed.....and since it looks like I may have to get into the module development business. Can you point me to any good threads, tutorials, or documentation on creating modules?

Thanks.

we are currently developing a module, that has many of the features you are asking for:

  • creating custom tables
  • accessing existing SQL tables from any SQL database
  • visual designer for forms and views
  • moderation and notification
  • hierarchical forms (1:n)

have a look at the description here, you can also try it yourself in our playgroud here (see login info at the bottom of the page).

Could you build apps with ironspeed and wrap it in a DNN module?
