This is so lame, so incredibly frustrating. This site makes it impossible to get any help. I have seen so many people express frustration with the 4.x install and no one seems to have any real answers. Where are the developers? Doesn't anyone on the developement team read these posts? Why hasn't someone acknowledged the problem?

And I really love the condesending responses from some of the moderators..

IS ANYBODY LISTENING!!!!????

I really do appreciate the response and I am happy to follow your instructions. However, I am not trying to install the development environment. I simply want the portal. I tired both the install.zip and the installer v 0.0.8. I got the same result. Do you think your instructions will help with my problem?

Besides installing 4.3.4 still and not 4.3.5, there is nothing wrong with the installer.

I've installed over 20 portals on 6 different machines and not one single problem with it.

Maybe if you posted your error or your issue and not some frustrated over generalization, someone would be able to help you a little better.

Specifically:

DotNetNuke Upgrade Error

The Assembly Version ( [ASSEMBLYVERSION] ) does not match the Database Version ( [DATABASEVERSION] )

ERROR: Could not connect to database.

The stored procedure 'dbo.GetPortalAliasByPortalID' doesn't exist.

This is a fresh install of the latest code. I am running windows 2003 and SQL 2005.

I have already looked at the connection string and tested both correct and incorrect strings. The string is correct.
