I read and followed the instructions except for one thing,  where it says SQL database.  Is that for MS SQL?  Because I don't see where Godaddy has any plans with just "SQL".  There is "MYSQL", "MS SQL", and "MS Access".

The database is MS SQL, SQL Server.

I've got ASP 2.0.  All files unzipped and uploaded, web.config updated with the correct information but for the life of me I can't find where to update the permissions on the folder.  As such I keep getting an error about the virtual directory.  As far as I can tell, ASP 2.0 has medium permissions as defualt and I don't see where to update this information on the configuration panel within godaddy.  Any suggestions?

I've done everything I can do but I keep getting file permission errors.

DotNetNuke Configuration Error

Access to the path 'd:\hosting\neomage\web.config' is denied.

DotNetNuke has extensive file upload capabilities for content, modules, and skins. These features require custom security settings so that the application is able to create and remove files in your website.

Using Windows Explorer, browse to the root folder of the website ( C:\DotNetNuke by default ). Right-click the folder and select Sharing and Security from the popup menu ( please note that if you are using Windows XP you may need to Enable Simple File Sharing before these options are displayed ). Select the Security tab. Add the appropriate User Account and set the Permissions.

If using Windows 2000 - IIS5
- the {Server}\ASPNET User Account must have Read, Write, and Change Control of the virtual root of your website

If using Windows 2003 - IIS6
- the NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE User Account must have Read, Write, and Change Control of the virtual root of your website
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I can't enable filesharing on their hosting.

Onyxricsina,

When you create your directory in directory management, you assign it permissions.

Open the Control Panel, select CONTENT, select, DIRECTORY MANAGEMENT, select, CREATE DIRECTORY, enter the directory name, select the following permissions: READ, WRITE, WEB, SET ROOT.

Now, copy your unzipped filed to that directory.  I did a localdirectoryname --> remotedirectoryname copy.

spdinertia44,

My instructions are for installing in a created directory, not a root install.  NorthernStarsolutions has root directory install instructions and a service as well
