Does it work okay with IE? What's the server that hosting the DNN site running? In the past I've noticed that Firefox gets picky when downloading a file from sites that are hosted on Server 2003. It appears that if the server doesn't have the file type defined Firefox automatically wants to put a .htm on the backend of the file.

Yes it is W2003Server (fresh install)

[It appears that if the server doesn't have the file type defined]here do you speake to this file extention :
Host Settings  Host Settings
  Basic Settings
  Other Settings
Enter the allowable file extensions (separated by commas) File Upload Extensions:

File Upload Extensions: swf,jpg,jpeg,jpe,gif,bmp,png,doc,xls,ppt,pdf,txt,xml,xsl,css,zip
(those files are in the start installation)

With ie I have only the possibility to open with the good extention and that run correctly

Nope, it has nothing to do with DNN but with the server itself. Microsoft really locked down 2003 compared to prior versions and by default it doesn't cover anything more than the basic MIME types. IE works fine but other browsers, when they don't get the correct information back from the server, get upset and just assume that the file should be a htm file.

I just had a chance to check my server and by .pdf is a registered MIME type. To check if it on your open IIS Manager and right-click on the computer name and go to Properties. Then click the MIME type tab and scroll down to verify that .pdf is listed there. If it is then I'm not sure what the next step is. It may be that a plugin is required by Firefox or maybe a reinstall of Adobe Reader is required.
