Guys,

i am having a small problem, i am trying to add a child portal to my install but i am having an error:

Error configuring Child PortalAccess to the path 'd:\hosting\skaimax01\childportal' is denied. at System.IO.__Error.WinIOError(Int32 errorCode, String maybeFullPath) at System.IO.Directory.InternalCreateDirectory(String fullPath, String path, DirectorySecurity dirSecurity) at System.IO.Directory.CreateDirectory(String path, DirectorySecurity directorySecurity) at DotNetNuke.Entities.Portals.PortalController.CreatePortal(String PortalName, String FirstName, String LastName, String Username, String Password, String Email, String Description, String KeyWords, String TemplatePath, String TemplateFile, String HomeDirectory, String PortalAlias, String ServerPath, String ChildPath, Boolean IsChildPortal)

then it appears in the portal list but...when i try to edit the new portal i get:
DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. ---> System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.PortalManagement.SiteSettings.Page_Load(Object sender, EventArgs e) --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

any ideas?
thx

You'll have to check with Godaddy to see if they will let you setup child portals, it looks like they don't have write permissions to the proper directory in order to create a child portal.

christos, is there a way to show the godaddy support why the problem is from their side?

what i got from them is:

"Thank you for contacting Online Support.

You can adjust custom directory permissions by clicking the 'Directory Management' icon in the 'Content' section of your Hosting Control Panel.

Unfortunately, we can not troubleshoot third party coding. However, if you believe that this issue is on our side, please reply with a detailed explanation of the problem. Please include what the script should be doing and provide sample links that are generating errors. However, if upon investigating the issue it is discovered that the issue was not on our side and that it was instead coding related, you may be charged a custom support fee."

i would not want to pay extra just to know that my site will never work.. :(

update: i cancelled my hosting with godaddy because apparently they dont have full support for dnn, its a pitty cause these guys are no rip-offs and have a huge bandwith and disk space for a low price... it seems that there is no perfect hosting!
