I am trying to use the default portal as the main portal of my webpage, the problem is with alias, currently Ive goty got a website with the domain name: [WWW.ABCD.COM] , to host dotnetnuke I used a different hosting provider and they provided me with a temporary url [WWW.HOSTPROVIDER.COM/HOMEDIR/DNN/], also bought new domain, I added the new domain to the portal aliases  [WWW.NEWDOMAIN.COM/DNN] but when I go through that url [WWW.NEWDOMAIN.COM/DNN] redirects to the temporary url [WWW.HOSTPROVIDER.COM/HOMEDIR/DNN]  and it doesn't look professional, dotnetnuke will only letme edit the second alias but not the first alias (which is the temporary) I tried to change directly from the database but it doesn't work.

Thanks for your reply, I have read that thread but how do I clear the cache on a hosted dotnetnuke ? In the other thread he was hosting dotnetnuke in his local machine not in a hosting website!

Make a change to your web.config, something like a space at the end of the file and re-upload/re-save it. Or re-upload a dll to the \bin directory.
