I've been reading in the forums how to backup a DNN installation.  Most explainations are for people to run their site through an external provider like GoDaddy.  We are hosting our own website.  Somebody stop me if I have this wrong but this is the way we're doing it.

If all your doing is making Backups of a DNN installation and saving to the hard disk or a network drive, all you have to do is archive the DNN installation folder using winrar.  When you do this it won't add the database files to the rar file but you can copy and paste them somewhere.

Because of that we're going to make a batch file to first copy the database files to a backup folder inside the App_Data folder.  Then archive the DNN install folder.

If you want to schedule this you can use the windows backup utility.  That's how we're going to try to do it.

not sure if this is the way everyone else does it, but this seems to be the easiest.
