1) created a SQL database (DB Name=*******, Host Name=servername, User Name = *******

2) created /portal directory w/ read, web, browse, write, & set root

3) unziped DNN instal into local directory

4) modified web.config to incluse the following:

  <connectionStrings>
    <!-- Connection String for SQL Server 2005 Express -->
    <!-- add
      name="SiteSqlServer"
      connectionString="Data Source=.\SQLExpress;Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True;AttachDBFilename=|DataDirectory|Database.mdf;"
      providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />
    <!-- Connection String for SQL Server 2000/2005
    <add
      name="SiteSqlServer"
connectionString="Server=servername;Database=******;uid=*****;pwd=password;"
      providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />
   -->
  </connectionStrings>
  <appSettings>
    <!-- Connection String for SQL Server 2005 Express - kept for backwards compatability - legacy modules   -->
    <!--  add key="SiteSqlServer" value="Data Source=.\SQLExpress;Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True;AttachDBFilename=|DataDirectory|Database.mdf;"/>
    <!-- Connection String for SQL Server 2000/2005 - kept for backwards compatability - legacy modules
    <add key="SiteSqlServer" value="Server=whsql-v11.prod.mesa1.secureserver.net;Database=DB_94257;uid=pricetowin;pwd=password;"/>

5) I upload the directory to the /portal folder on godaddy

6) I point my browser at http://www.price-to-win.com/portal/ and I get the following error;

Server Error in '/portal' Application.

Runtime Error

Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.

Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This <customErrors> tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".

<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

<configuration>
    <system.web>
        <customErrors mode="Off"/>
    </system.web>
</configuration>

Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's <customErrors> configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL.

<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

<configuration>
    <system.web>
        <customErrors mode="RemoteOnly" defaultRedirect="mycustompage.htm"/>
    </system.web>
</configuration>

I have customErrors mode="Off" but i get the same result.

Any suggestions??  Godaddy is not very helpful.

I've been unsuccessful also and willing to pay someone to get me completely setup with GoDaddy. I'm currently hosting my DNN sites with MySiteSpace.com and this has got to be the worst hosting company. My site's slow and when it's not slow it times out all together. I've already paid for GoDaddy for an entire year but can't seem to get DNN installed properly...please help me also.

Hey guys take a look at this post.

http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/ForumsDotNetNuke/tabid/795/forumid/107/threadid/78613/scope/posts/Default.aspx

It looks like to me that your Connection String is Commented out for the SQL2000/2005.

Let me know if this helps.
