Hi,

I am building a web site which uses the DNN Users mechanism but I also have another UserProfile table for additional user information. I want to create a registration form that will accept new parameters and also call my function to create a new entry in UserProfile.

What is the best way to do it with the latest DNN version?

Many thanks,

Ofer

One way to do this would be to write a custom module that does just the extra stuff you want.  You can extend the built-in user profile to include the added parameters.  What I would do is setup the portal (Admin -> User Accounts -> User Settings) so Redirect After Login always sends the user to some page that has your custom module on it.  Your module then extracts whatever profile information you need.  A nice, finishing touch would be to pay attention to what page the user logged in from and send them back to that page after you've retrieved everything you need.

No custom registration page is needed to do this.  You just need a simple module (really no interface is even necessary) to do the processing you desire.

Thanks for the reply. That's a good idea.

However, I want to customize the look of the registration page and I didn't see a way to do it.
Such as adding an image at the top, styles for the controls and page, all the fields in one section, adding a "terms and conditions" checkbox, etc.

Is the only way to do it is by editing register.ascx?

Many thanks

Ofer

I see.  Well if that's what you want to do, I wouldn't edit Register.ascx.  Rather, I would actually create a custom registration module and inherit functionality from DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.Security.Register and other classes as necessary.

Thanks, but that's still pretty vague as I don't know which functionally exactly to inherit and how it is done.
I wasn't able to find any documentation for this on this site, nor in the DNN book, not to mention sample code.
The custom registration is still obscure to me.

Thx

Ofer
