I would like to develop my dotnetnuke portal on a laptop for an intranet application to manage internal documents. I am new to dotnetnuke (going on my third day) and have installed the starter kit with VWD Express. I am not a web developer by trade so some of the configuration stuff might be escaping me but it appears I have a few problems:

  1. My portal works with the built in local host instance of VWD while attached to my LAN at work but when I try to do some developing at home on my home office wireless network on the same laptop (using WAP security) it doesn't work with the local host instance in VWD Express.
  2. Second I can't seem to find any description on how to configure IIS on the server at work so that I can move my finished portal to the server so it can be accessed via our intranet.
  3. I also can't find any information for moving the finished portal to another machine...i.e. what to look for/expect or what things will need to be reconfigured on the server after the move from my laptop. I assume it involves moving the webpage folder from /VisualStudio8/Projects/Webpages folder on my laptop to a folder on the server and setting up a virtual directory in IIS that points to it as you would based on the INSTALL or SOURCE package install instructions but can't find any info on this.

I have searched the forums today and have read quite a few things but these questions remain. This may be a configuration forum question and I will post this message there as well...sorry if that (cross posting) is bad form but my chief physicist has made this a high priority and I am trying to work the learning curve in as quick as possible.

Thanks
