Hi there,

can you explain all the changes in Catalook to have it working with Ajax?

Do we need to edit the menu file too?

Thanks in advance

>The module is Catalook, which is very nice, but if you use advanced product options every product option change does >a post back so I thought I could improve this with AJAX.

I use MagicAjax in DNNV2 and a number of modules - for simple areas such as the one you describe and such areas as the preview buttons etc in dnn it works perfectly. It is fast to code no javascript needs to be written. It is ideal for these small post back situations.

I spoke with Susanne on some other matters regarding DNN & some client projects - and was informed she's working on ajax and catalook. There will be some very exciting up dates to Catalook in the new year - but of course - these are only for the DNN4 websites.

It's great to see this development, extending an already good product just that little bit further.

elevocm, everything was described in my first Post, that solution worked I was just missing a web config setting. You don't have to change the menu, that was something I just did. The other thing you'll want to do is download the ajax beta 1 toolkit from www.asp.net. Create a new AJAX project and everything that was placed inside of that web.config I added to my dotnet nuke web.config. Plus I changed that xml setting from legacy to transitional.  You might also notice that my make ajax function only adds ajax functionality to dropdown changes. You might want to add it to something else.

One thing I'm noticing is the images thumbnails seem like they are being regenerated on an ajax refresh. This is because that whole page is skinnable and everything is inside that update panel. A better way to do this might be to somehow get the update panel to load from the skin and wrap it around just the price label and the options so the images do not refresh. This would however break all of the old skins and I wasn't brave enough to attempt that. It would probably be the better way to do it.

Unfortunately I couldn't convince my customer to actaully pay me to make this change so I'm trying to avoid putting another 25 hours or so into the update.

I also sent support@catalook.de a link to this thread and a copy of my web.config.

I did some research last nite and the issue with the images refreshing is only an issue with IE-6. Fire Fox and the latest IE do not have this problem.

The whole updatepanel refresh looks a lot smoother in general for IE 7 and Firefox. Now I just need to figure out why my banner doesn't show up in Fire Fox :(
