Hi,

Run IIS then right click on Default Web site, select New -> Virtual Directory.

In Wizard, give it an Alias, then choose your directory, after that in from Access permissions, select Read, Run, and Browse. It's done. To check it, right click on the Alias in Default Web Site tree and choose properties. If you look under Application Setting section, you will find Apllication Name with a button in front with name of "Remove".

Ok that helped alot I think. But now when I right click on my virtual directory and click browse to test it, I navigate to install, and install.aspx, and it shows the following message:

Error Installing DotNetNuke

Current Assembly Version: 04.03.05

ERROR: Could not connect to database specified in connectionString for SqlDataProvider

 

I have tried connecting to it via my browser as well: http://localhost/ImpAlliance/Install/install.aspx

But at that link I get this error message: 

Server Error in '/ImpAlliance' Application.

An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server.  When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified)

Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.
