In the process of making some modifications to the UDT source I noticed that the 'BindDataToGrid' procedure frequently gets called twice with each postback.  For example, when sorting on column the PageLoad event first fires causing BindData to be called and subsequently within same postpack the grdData_Sort event is fired causing the grid to be bound again.  Conditional Is Not Postback in the PageLoad would seem like the solution, however noticed that then the grid sort event does not fire. I would guess this has to do with page state and fact that grid columns are being dynamically generated. Any clarifications would be appreciated.  Thanks, Lauren

Lauren.

You are right and I thought I will fix it in seconds but as soon as I don't call BindData on PageLoad the sort command will not fire. I don't know what happens, at least I found one more issue regarding paging and elimnated it so inside UDT337 everything is working like expected, even all kind of sorting and paging.

But this doesn't help us regarding the sort command and BindData is called twice. At least the most expensive operation, requesting and preparing the data is only done once.

Stefan,

Thanks for the quick reply. I did a little more digging, and it seems others are having similar issues with OnSortCommand not firing when dynamically creating the grid columns. Obviously binding the grid twice seems to work, but seems inefficient and non intuitive. The best work around to double binding is to use Page_Init, rather than Page_Load, to dynamically create the columns.  Yes I had noticed an issue with paging/sorting as well, but seems you may have resolved that with upcoming release. If you need volunteer to test your upcoming release, feel free to send it over.

Thanks,  Lauren
