I thought I configured IIS properly for DotNetNuke, but when I run //localhost/DotNetNuke/ I get the following error message:  Anyone have any clue what would cause this.

Also - this is the 3rd or 4th time I tried to post this - and I never see it on the list.  I hope it posts this time and that I have not created a bunch of duplicates.   Thanx!  Angelo

it looks for sure like a misconfiguration of your IIS or folder permissions. Please ensure, that the virtual directory "DotNetNuke" is running as Application and the appropriate ASP.Net version is applied (DNN 3: ASP.Net 1.1, DNN 4: ASP.Net 2.0)

I'm looking for a way to insert a screen print from IIS into this post - but I am having no luck.

  • I know I am running DNN 4 because that is what I downloaded from the DNN site.
  • What do you mean when you say to ensure that the virtual diretory "DotNetNuke" is running as an application?  It does not say stopped next to it.
  • How can I determine whether or not I am running ASP.Net 2.0?

Thanx!

In IIS right click your virtual directory and select properties.

Switch to the virtual directory tab. There needs to be an application name with a starting point and execution permission

Sheesh!  Nothing was making sense in what you were saying - so I knew one of us were screwed up and I figured it was not you.  Therefore I started looking at everything over again and realized that the RDC I was working on only had DotNet 1.1.

So - I redid everything on another machine that had DotNet 2.0 and when I launch the site, I get the following message.  (Note: I have not installed VisualStudio.NET yet!  I figured that I would just get this site up and running and I didn't think I needed VS.NET until I was ready to do some updates.

Thanx!  Angelo
