Hi all,

I'm looking for a way to do display a given module when a user is explicitly not member of a given group. Anybody know of an easy way to do this or if there is a text/html-like module that would do this for me?

/Jesper

There is a role called "Unauthenticated Users".  This can be used to show the login module unless someone is signed in.

If you want a role that lets you know they are authenticated but not in any specific group, that is "Registered Users".

I don't think I fully explained what I want to achieve, so I'll try again.

I have two modules, let's call them mod1 and mod2. Then I have this one 'custom' role called 'role1', that my users pay an annual fee to be a member of.

So, on my page I want to display mod1 if, and only if, the user browsing the page is not a member of role1 otherwise it should display mod2.

Registered users covers all users on the site except unauthenticated ones, so I can't use that. I hear what you are saying, but the way I should configure that then would be to give only role1 access to mod2 and registered users access to mod1. Ultimately users who are member of role1 would see both mod1 and mod2, but what I really want is for them to only see mod2.

So what you are saying is that you want to assign a role to a module that does *not* allow the users in that role to see it.  In NTFS/ACL terms "deny access".
Sorry, DNN does not support this.

However, you could assign mod1 to be visible by several (or all) roles *except* role1, then assign mod2 to only be visible by role1.

that would work if I hadn't the 'registered users' which breaks that idea, unless of course I can circuimvent the principle of that group. I would have to make some modifications to the rest of my security setup, but that would be ok. It sounds to me that I need to create my own variation of the text/html module to achieve my goal.

thanks for your help and thoughts on this challenge, John. Much appreciated.
