You need to use admin->File Manager to set "read" permissions on folders for the roles that you want to be able to view the documents (or "all users", if you want everyone to be able to download them).

I had to set the "Write" permissions for folder so that documents were visible to Non -Administrators. That's a massive concern for me. I'm running 3.3.6.

A different wrinkle that may help... Could be server-specific, I don't know, but worth a try.

I had the problem described, went back and set the view permission for the folder to "all users", but the docs still did not show up in the module. So I deleted all the docs from the folder, then uploaded them again after verifying the "all users" view permission for the target folder.

After that, everything worked as expected! Evidently I needed to have the folder permission set before putting any files in in it!

Hi, i tried all the tricks here and set the correct permissions but it worked only once and i didnt manage to get it work again.

The same problem, i upload the document within the documents module but nothing appears to users. I also tried to use an existing file but didnt worked.

Any other idea ?

Thanks

I just managed to solve this issue for myself so I thought I would post what I did. I have some documents in a folder, they werent showing up in the documents list unless I logged in, only documents that were in the root would show up if I wasnt logged in. I changed the permissions on the folder that contained the documents that weren't showing up so that "All Users" could "View Folder". This still didnt fix anything and the documents still didnt show up in the list. I decided to check the rest of the boxes including, Registered Users, Subscribers, Unauthenticated Users to allow them all to "View Folder". As soon as I did this, all the documents showed up in the list when I am logged out.

I thought this was strange, because you would think that "All Users" means ALL USERS!. But I guess it doesnt, if you want the files to be available to all users, you have to click all four checkboxes, then it should work.

I hope this helps...

Jamie
