Hello all,

I would like to add some search tools on my DNN pages to allow users to search in a specific directory of the site... and not in all site content.

Has anybody already used or seen such a tool ? as a module ?

If not, could someone help me and explain me how to create such a module? I've tried a little with the Search Input and Search Results core modules, but I cannot do anything.....

Thanks a lot in advance,

SL

Have a look at the tutorials of DNN Search Guru Eck Two (see here)

Thanks, I've had a look at the tutorials, it seems that such a module doesn't exist yet......

So I'm going to work on it, or at least, try to do it..... I'm not sure because I've never created modules.

If someone can give me some tips about it, I would appreciate a lot.

Here is a resume of what I need to do :

I have PDF documents stored in a specific folder (in File Manager)

I would like to create a search input/result module which only returns items from this folder.

Any help would be welcome, thanks again.

I would probably use the File Stream method using something like Server.MapPath("/portals/[portalid]/[dir2search]")

That way you can be sure you are looking at just that folder.  From there you can pull the filename and extension (valuable if you only want pdf files and other types exist) and then only display results based on what you get back.  It's probably easiest to pull it into a datatable and bind to a datalist or datagrid.
