Hi, i've just installed DNN 4.3.5. I have gone through the steps in the readme files and the installation pdf. I am still having problems connecting to the database using IIS 5.1 I am using VS2005, WinXP, IIS 5.1, SQL Server 2005. I can build, run and edit the site using the VS2005 server. So the connection strings work. I have set up the virtual directory etc in IIS but with no luck. Is there something I am doing wrong? Thanks Ken

Not sure, Ken. What kind of errors are you getting? Are you actually having trouble connecting to the database or the virtual directory? In IIS, of course, you have to make sure that the virtual directory has all of the correct permissions. If the connection string works from VS2005 then there should be no problem with the database. Let us know what's going on.

Ken

Try:

  • From VS.Net 2005 in Solution Explorer, right click app_data/database.mdf and click Detach (it will re attach on its own next time it needs to).
  • Then via Windows Explorer goto the app_data directory and make sure the ASPNET account has access to database.mdf and database_log.mdf.
  • Then retry accessing your site via the browser.

Cheers

Hi Mike, the errors i'm getting back are:

DotNetNuke Upgrade Error
The Assembly Version ( [ASSEMBLYVERSION] ) does not match the Database Version ( [DATABASEVERSION] )

ERROR: Could not connect to database.

Cannot open database "DotNetNuke" requested by the login. The login failed. Login failed for user 'KEN\ASPNET'.

I'm using windows integrated security. The permissions look right. I have given full permissions to ASP.NET, NETWORK SERVICE etc at the root folder and its sub folders.

This is the connectionstring code:

<connectionStrings>

<remove name="LocalSqlServer" />

<add name="SiteSqlServer" connectionString="Data Source=Ken;Initial Catalog=DotNetNuke;Integrated Security=True"

providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />

</connectionStrings>

Any ideas?

Thanks

Ken
