Hi! I'm working to a custom module built with a DLL controller.

I've implemented ISearchable and IPortable but when I upload the module to my portal, in the module details, the two interfaces are disabled. I found lately that if I modify manually the "DesktopModules" table, then it works.

Do I have to make the implementations on my View control?
Any help is highly appreciated!

If ISearchable and/or IPortable are properly implemented in the controller and the controller class/assembly are properly referenced in the <businesscontrollerclass> node of your module's DNN manifest file, the module installer should via reflection determine that these interfaces are implemented.  There should not be any implementation of them in the view control.

Thanks for the quick reply!

My error was using the <businesscontrollerclass> as:
  • Fully qualified controller name (Namespace.ObjectController)
  • Fully qualified Namespace name (Namespace)
instead of
  • Fully qualified controller name (Namespace.ObjectController)
  • DLL name (without extension)
Now my business controller node looks like

<businesscontrollerclass> Namespace.ObjectController, Filename</businesscontrollerclass>

Hope this helps someone....
Again, thanks for the fast support!

Also, if you have an existing module and you add IPortable, ISearchable, IUpgradable you can do this:

Go to the Module definition after you add the interfaces to the class indicated in the "Controller Class" box. (If you don't have a "Controller Class" indicated in the module definition, create a new module definition with the "Controller Class" properly set.

The optional interfaces (Portable, Searchable, Upgradeable) will not be checked.

Click the Update Link

The Module Configuration will now be properly updated
