Hi,

is there any possibility to overwrite files (e.g. when uploading a newer version of a document)? In former versions, it just happened, but now (04.03.05) the following error fires:

An Error Has Occurred When Attempting To Save The File c:\inetpub\wwwroot\DotNetNuke\Portals\0\Dokumente\XYZ.pdf. Please Contact Your Hosting Provider To Ensure The Appropriate Security Settings Have Been Enabled On The Server.

If I delete the old file, and then upload the new file, it works, but the links to this file always break after this, so I have to edit every single link again... Best way would be to have a confirmation with a warning (File exists - Overwrite? [YES] [NO]). Is there any file manager setting (where?) or replacement mechanism?

(BTW: Is there a tool to find broken links and unlinked files?)

Thanks in advance for any help...

Michael

Thanks, this is solved.

Another thing: When I move files that are linked from one folder to another, and then try to change the links in the approbriate module (e.g. Documents), the change will not be stored... :-(

Best wishes

Michael

it depends on the version of the module, when the links were stored:

  • previous versions stored paths, that are broken, if you move the file
  • newer versions store fileID and the path gets retrieved at download time

Prerequisite: you move the file with DNN file manager, other moves will result in new file IDs.

Please notice, that even with new modules, output caching might prohibit, that changes are effective immediately.

Will upgrading from DNN 3.3.5 to 3.3.6 resolve this issue? I am having lots of file permission errors in 3.3.5 and I thought it was just from moving to a new server. But I have tried to setup permissions on the new server like the old one. Thanks for any help you can provide.
