I was trying to create a new portal based on a template and it never finished. It just hung up. Well, I hit the Create Portal link again and it said that it was already created. I went to the Host/Portals and the name was there but no alias. I went to edit the settings for the portal and got the object reference error. But I did have the ability to set the alias. So I did that and was able to access the portal with the alias. But only about 1/2 of the tabs from the template were there and there was not admin account/

I just want to try to delete it and start over. Since the Settings are not available is there another way to delete it and make sure everything gets cleaned out properly? Is there a SPROC that will take the PortalID or Name as a parameter to delete it? Thanks.

Hi,

I'm having exactly the same problem with some of the templates I purchased as a subscription package. Some install well and some don't, I haven't been able to figure out whether the templates are defective or there is another problem but the end result is plenty of half created child portals and I don't dare just deleting the portal Alias in th DB.

In my situation, I cannot create any portals since upgrading from 3.2.2 to 3.3.5. Based on this post, http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/ForumsDotNetNuke/tabid/795/forumid/108/threadid/59490/scope/posts/Default.aspx, there is a know issue with DNN 4.3.? with a SPROC. Supposedly there is a SQL Script to run to fix it, but it did not work for me. I am still waiting for some help on both deleting all these half-baked portals that have been created and then how to fix my system to create new portals, but no replies thus far.

You could try the sproc DeletePortalInfo @PortalId

You need to know the PortalID which you can get by running SELECT * FROM Portals

Use this at your own risk. Back up your database before running the sproc.

This looks like all it does is delete the portal from the portals table. Does it trigger the deletion of the other records for tabs, modules, etc. that are associated with the server?
