True. Pretty insane isn't it? I use GoDaddy's auto-installation of DNN on two shared-hosting sites. If you use their web form for technical support, and ask that your request be raised to the advanced support team, then GoDaddy will make a backup of your database. (As you know, that database is not directly accessible by you, the owner.) They will then place the backup database into your FTP folders so that you can download it as a binary (.BIN) file or an ASCII file. So that's one thing, although it may not be so useful.

This claim is completely inaccurate. You can deploy an ASP.NET 2.0 application called Web Explorer Lite to your root user folder on GoDaddy. Then, you can use Web Explorer Lite to get to any and all of your root DNN installation folders and files, remove them, replace them, etc. Web Explorer Lite is pretty much like Windows Explorer, it simply let's you navigate your DNN root folders, which you otherwise cannot reach. It's an FTP-like client with a nice graphical interface. If you need help deploying Web Explorer Lite on your website, just ask. You can also ask me directly on my forums at commonmancomputing. c o m . *Note: This refers to DNN files, not database tables.

Almost everything that GoDaddy support told to gt6303c is patently false.

A good plan on the export template idea. I am going to do exactly this on my local Cassini + DNN installation, so that I can test this out before I make the big blank-o-rama on my current and perfectly functional GoDaddy DNN site. I welcome all queries to my forums at commonmancomputing. c o m .
