Hi I'm having a problem with downloading documents in all of the modules (text/HTML, Documents and Repository) of type’s .pdf, .xls, .doc, .txt, rtf, .ppt

I am running DotNetNuke 4.3.5

If I create a link using the module I get this type LinkClick to the doc <a href="/LinkClick.aspx?fileticket=Vg359YF7vUE%3d&amp;tabid=346">Click here</a>
This returns a file with nothing in it, or if it's a pdf its Damaged Corrupt File

my webconfig has <httpHandlers><add verb="*" path="LinkClick.aspx" type="DotNetNuke.Services.FileSystem.FileServerHandler, DotNetNuke"/>
    </httpHandlers>
And I see the calls going to the DB so I gather it works.

I do have http compression running but don't see this as the problem as I can link to the file like below
If I create a link like <p>just the ppt <a href="http://mysite/portals/0/test.txt">Click here</a></p> it works

I have run wfetch which ask for the file and display what return and I'm getting "Content-Type: application/octet-stream\r\n" where if it’s linked I get "Content-Type: application/msword\r\n
"

I have Synchronize Folder and files...

I have looking for the answers and found none, is anyone else having this problem?

I'm having the same problem as well. This is causing a lot of grief! I,ve also checked my web config file and it is configured properly. The only solution is to manually force the hyperlink using the full path to the file. The odd thing is it seems to be inconsistent, some files do not have the problem, others will work for while before causing an error. I have looked everywhere and have seen no resolution. I was all for this new feature but now I wish I could rollback.

Damien,

there has been issues with file synchronization in DNN 3.3.5/4.3.5, that are solved in the current releases. One aspect is derived from wrong file sized in database, so check your files table for the size of the file and correct it to the real value and download shoud work as expected. I strongly recommend to data up to the most recent version due to a severe security issue published today.

Hello Leupold !

perhaps you could have a look at this post :

http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/ForumsDotNetNuke/tabid/795/forumid/108/threadid/54559/scope/posts/Default.aspx

It gives some more details about the problem.

I installed 4.3.6 on Windows 2006 with IIS 6.0 and still I have this very problem: pdf-files are not properly downloaded. This is a very big problem for some of us. If you wish to have any further details, let me know!

Regards,
Fabian

PS Filesizes in the database are correct.

Hi Sebastian Leupold,

I've upgraded to DotNetNuke Version: 04.03.06 but I still have this same problem, thanks for the help anyway.

Has anyone found a answer to the problem, also I've been looking in the Bug/Issues list and I see some that are some what the same as what I have ran into.

DNNP-4475 "All file MIME type become "application/octet-stream"
DNNP-4425  "Not opening MS Word documents"

DNNP-4419

Linkless Hyperlinks in Hardening DotNetNuke Installations

DNNP-4406 Download Filename need to URLEncode for IE

are all these the same issue? or should I add another?

regards Damien
