There are times when I would like to use the UDT for something, but the display limitations always prevent me from being able to do so.  I think the UDT module would be much more useful (significantly so) if two companion modules were added, UDT ListView and UDT DetailView.

One of the limitations is that the only display option is the predefined list that shows all columns.  I think the module would me much more useful if the data definition was decoupled from the display.  So, I suggest, change the current UDT module to only allow configuration of the data table and assign a logical unique name for it.  Then, the user would use either the UDT ListView or UDT DetailView module to display the data.  If you have ever looked at any of Scott McCullough's modules, one of their strengths is that he gives you the ability to supply the header, item, and footer templates.  If we had list and detail view modules that did this, the UDT would be so much more useable.  It would allow multiple views of the same data.  Sometimes, you want the public seeing one view, but an admin to see another.

Thanks, I've recorded that as an enhancement request on the UDT issuelog .

Just to promote the relevance of this request. I just started a new project and thaught lest take a look again at this (actually gammacon's) module. I alomost does what I want so its back to Xmod again...

But please keep it simple start with list view and detailed view: let the user specify visibility and order for both views. And maybe throw in some CSS styles so that it can be skinned.

You'll think of something ;) I'll be happy to do some beta testing...
