please make sure, that the two database connection strings in your web.config (one in section "connectionStrings" and one in section "appSettings") are identical.

Thanks for the response. This is what I have now:

<connectionStrings>

  <add name="SiteSqlServer" connectionString="Server=HTC50132\SQLEXPRESS;Database=dbHamilton;Trusted_Connection=True;" />
  </connectionStrings>
- <appSettings>
  <add key="SiteSqlServer" value="Server=HTC50132\SQLEXPRESS;Database=dbHamilton;Trusted_Connection=True;" />

...

I made them identical as I could (appsettings won't let me use name= and connectionstring= had to use key= and name=). Still the same result. In fact, I can completely comment out the appSettings connection string and the same problem occurs, so I think it must be in the appSettings connection string.

Do you think it could be a file permission problem?

I gave Network Service account all permissions in the entire directory When I'm logged in as an Admin, I can see the module titles, but cannot see the module itself. Maybe that helps?

Thanks again,

Brent

in connection strings, the providerName shall be added, i.e.
<add name="SiteSqlServer" connectionString="Server=HTC50132\SQLEXPRESS;Database=dbHamilton;Trusted_Connection=True;" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />

the other parts of the statements llok ok on first glance.

It may not be connection strings. If you log in as host, you should get a more detailed error message.  If you don't see the error message on the page with the module that is failing look in the Log Viewer (under the admin menu).

You're right it wasn't connection strings. Seems someone was jacking around in the bin folder and deleted half the DLL's!

It took me a while, but I finally have the correct ones back in the bin and the site is running smoothly! Thanks for the help!
