Hi Everyone!

I'm new to website development and DNN looks like the best way for a novice like me to create a website from scratch.

This is my first post and is a request for help.

I'm using DNN435 and I've been seeing the following error message when making User entries on forms.

(I've also seen it on DNN403)

" A critical error has occurred. Object reference not set to an instance of an object. "

I've noticed that if I re-open the same page I can see the form has actually been updated.

I'm not sure if this helps ID the fault cause but I've sometimes forgotten I'm in Host/Admin mode and made a User entry. Would this cause the defect initially?

Each time I've encountered this error I've needed my host to do a re-install of DNN and clear the database.

My site is in the early stages of development so I'm OK with this as a fix for now but would like to understand what the defect actually is, it's root cause, how to stop it happening and if it does, how do I fix it rather than going back to my host for a reset.

Folks,

Problem solved.

It lay in a development module that would fall over after a while.

Thanks to everyone who took time out to look at my post.

I'll try and add more tech detail on any future requests for help now I know my way round DNN a little better and can find the error log info!
