I have created some child portals and was trying to delete one when I received this message:

Error: Site Settings is currently unavailable.
DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: Access to the path 'C:\hshome\portalpa\portalpages.net\bizz3' is denied. ---> System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path 'C:\hshome\portalpa\portalpages.net\bizz3' is denied. at System.IO.__Error.WinIOError(Int32 errorCode, String maybeFullPath) at System.IO.Directory.InternalGetFileDirectoryNames(String path, String userPathOriginal, String searchPattern, Boolean includeFiles, Boolean includeDirs, SearchOption searchOption) at System.IO.Directory.GetDirectories(String path, String searchPattern, SearchOption searchOption) at System.IO.Directory.GetDirectories(String path) at DotNetNuke.Common.Globals.DeleteFilesRecursive(String strRoot, String filter) at DotNetNuke.Common.Globals.DeleteFilesRecursive(String strRoot, String filter) at DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.PortalManagement.SiteSettings.cmdDelete_Click(Object sender, EventArgs e) --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

I was logged in as host and went to host->portals, then selected the portal to edit and tried to delete it.

I am running DNN 4.3.5. My host has SQL Server 2000 and my 'databaseOwner' is NOT 'db_owner'.

It seems like a files permission thing but I AM able to create new child portals so, I'm at a loss....

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Arden

I have this same problem with DNN 4.0.2.

it seems that after I get this error when I:
1. then log out
2. then log back in as host
3. retry to delete the portal

the portal is then deleted and I can delete others.

I have no idea why it worksthis way....

Regards,
Arden

you cannot delete a portal that does not have a valid alias. maybe this is causing your issue.

Hi Sebastian,

I'm not sure if that's it or not. The portals appear to have valid aliases, I didn't think DNN would create a child without one. But, it seems the OS is denying access to the folder but this same folder was created via DNN. And yet, after I log out then log back in, I can perform the delete.

The Host Settings -> 'Enable File System Auto-Sync' setting is enabled in my installation; could it be having an effect here?

Thanks,
Arden
