'Enable File System Auto-Sync' does only deal with /portals subdirectories, it should not have locked another portals folders, because it only looks into files in current folder on access. Make sure, you don't run schedules synchronization as well!

Thanks Sebastian,

So, the 'Auto-Sync' only kicks in when the portals are writing/deleting?
I do have the 'Scheduler Mode' set to 'Request Method'.
But, I also have the 'Performance Setting' at 'Heavy Caching' in order to serve the pages faster, would that account for the weird behavior? Maybe I should change it back to 'Moderate'?

Thanks For Your Help,
Arden

  • 'Auto-Sync' only kicks in when the portals are reading
  • Check, if scheduler job for file system synchronisation is enabled and its frequency
  • Performance settings determinces cache duration, until the cache get invalidated

The Scheduled events that are enabled are the defaults:

PurgeScheduleHistory ... every 1 day
PurgeLogBuffer ... every 1 minute
SearchEngineScheduler ... every 30 minutes

I don't think these would be affecting the weird filesystem error though.

For the OS to deny access to a folder that DNN says is created (and confirmed by me), we have a clear example of the right-hand not knowing what the left-hand is doing. Something is causing the filesystem not to be synced with the database; and it's an intermittent error.... Could this be a Transaction log issue with SQL Server?

Thanks,
Arden

Just a couple of related questions from me... is the Auto-sync now all working properly in 4.3.6? I understood there to be issues with it in 4.3.5.

And... what's the best setup to use in a typical 4.3.6 instance running a number of portals on a shared host? Currently I've left everything at 4.3.6 defaults.

Regards,
Rob
