Thanks Rich,

I don't want to have to do that.  Hopfully one of the other solutions will work for me.

Thanks

Just a refresher to make sure I have everything correct:

You have your DNN installation on GoDaddy shared hosting, and I could reach that website by going to www.mawebsite.com , which is your root. There, at the root, the index.html does a refresh over to www.mawebsite.com/dotnetnuke .

Thus DNN is installed in the /dotnetnuke folder.

You want to change the virtual folder name from /dotnetnuke to /home .

As you seem to know, this will involve your (eventually) needing to blank out your entire root for mawebsite.com . That's kind of ugly but it's the only way to do it on GoDaddy shared hosting. After you completely blank out (reset, restart) your root, you can then install DNN into a more desireable virtual folder.

So of course the immediate concern is to make sure you have a complete backup locally (on your machine) of the entire folder structure including your GoDaddy database. To alleviate all of those concerns in one fell swoop, you need BackupScript 2.0.4 by Evotiva, and you need a local web server such as UltiDev Cassini Web Server 2.0 . Then, you can reinstall DNN on your root (erasing all), and using BackupScript 2.0.4 then it will restore it back for you.

There is a methodology for this, and Evotiva will assist you, but I am currently working a new website, http://www.dnncassini.com , which will present the steps needed into a clear web presentation.

The good news is it can be done. I completely backed up a complex DNN site two weeks ago, it works great locally.

Hello, I have the wexlite installed on my website I can access my dotnetnuke application. I too am on Godaddy and have pretty much the same problem, but am not where you are yet.

but to use wexlite to access your virtual directory on godaddy dotnetnuke.

open the config.asp file and make some changes -

where you see: Const wexRoot = "/" change it to your virtual directory name i.e., Const wexRoot = "/dotnetnuke"

I believe that is what I entered

Hello,

For installing DNN to the root of godaddy, you can follow these instructions: http://www.northernstarsolutions.com/Troubleshooting/GodaddyHosting
I am new to DNN, and I was able to install it in the root of godaddy following these informations (excepted that web.config need to be copied first to a folder, and then copied from this folder to the root, otherwise it is overwritten at next step).
